Our Journey · South Africa to America
The parts of immigration
that never appear on the forms.
Honest stories from our family’s move, our L-1 and green-card journey, building businesses, raising children between two countries and learning what it takes to begin again.
We did not build Emigrate2USA because the journey was simple. We built it because so much of what mattered sat between the official steps.
Why we share it
Lived experience cannot replace expertise—but it can make the road feel less lonely.
Our family arrived in the United States in August 2022 after building an L-1A new-office pathway from South Africa. What followed included renewals, business growth, an EB-1C route, adjustment of status and, eventually, permanent residence.
Those milestones matter. But so do the pieces between them: children adapting at different speeds, rebuilding a financial life, pressure on a marriage, missing home, making decisions without certainty and slowly recognising that the new life is no longer temporary.
The themes that shaped our journey
Stories from the space between leaving and belonging.
These stories are personal, but the emotions and decisions often echo across immigrant families. Read the part that meets you where you are.
