It may look like a small plastic card to some, but for us (and many other immigrants) it’s the evidence of a journey filled with mountains moved, faith stretched, and purpose unfolding.
When we applied for our L1 visa in 2022, we didn’t fully grasp what lay ahead.
We landed in August that year with a bold calling — to expand a South African business into the U.S. But what many don’t see is the pace and pressure this path demands.
– You don’t just arrive and figure it out.
– You arrive and you build.
– Fast.
Within 8 months, we had to prove the business was viable, growing, and worthy of renewal. And by God’s grace — we did. Our first L1 extension was approved within 15 days… thanks to premium processing.
From there, we began a process to apply for permanent residency — a long, technical, emotionally draining process known as labor certification. It involved complex filings, audits, proving job uniqueness, and timelines that moved at the speed of bureaucracy.
But then, in early 2024, our attorney suggested we try EB-1C.
It was a long shot. But so was all of this.
So we did.
And on February 26, 2025, our green cards were approved.
This isn’t just an immigration story.
– It’s a faith story.
– Of showing up.
– Of doing the hard work.
– Of trusting God even when the timeline made no sense and the process felt impossible.
There were many nights of holding our breath.
There were tears.
There were conversations about “what if this doesn’t work.”
But there was always peace — a deep knowing that this was God’s plan for our family.
And His hand never left us for a second.
So today I share this not just as a milestone, but as a testimony.
To anyone navigating the L1 visa route — know this:
– It is not easy.
– It will stretch you.
– It will test your resilience.
– But it’s also possible.
And with the right guidance, preparation, and faith — it can become your family’s miracle too.
